There are a variety of meetings and activities that take place in Scouting.
Weekly: Troop 615 meets every Wednesday evening from 7PM – 8:30PM at the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City.
Monthly: Outings take place every month throughout the year. The Troop generally tent camps during 9 of those months and cabin camps in the remaining three. In addition to outings, Scouts have a planning meeting that occurs monthly called a PLC: Patrol Leaders Council.
Three times a year: Courts of Honor take place three times a year to celebrate Scout accomplishments with the entire Troop.
Twice a Year: Semiannual Planning Conference: this is the meeting where Scouts plan out the next 18 months of Troop outings. Boys decide where to go and what activities they are interested in having.
Once per year: Summer camp (a week long outing that has occurred at Ockanickon Scout Reservation for the past 10 years);
High Adventure Outing: Troop 615 generally has one high adventure outing each year. We have generally alternated between Northern Tier (canoeing) one year and Philmont Scout Ranch the next. We also have had crews attend Sea Base in both Florida and St. Thomas.
Every Four Years: Every four years, members form the Scouting community from all over the country get together at Boy Scout Jamboree. The new home of the Jamboree is in near by West Virginia at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Imagine the fun of getting 45,000 Scouts together for a 10 day camp out!
